Standard Colors...

We manufacture our tiles using only the highest quality aniline leather dyes for coloring.  Many other leather tile manufacturers use at least partial if not full pigment finishes to color their leather tiles.  By using only dyes, the natural beauty of the leather's grain is enhanced and accented.  You wouldn't paint a fine grain wood; you would stain it to bring out it's character.  Leather has a grain character often more interesting than many unique and exotic wood species.  The character of leather's grain includes distinct features such as hair follicles, wrinkles, healed scratches and even some branding marks which are all part of the beauty and history of the hide from which the leather tile was produced.  These are features to be celebrated, not painted over.

Please note that colors represented in the above photos are close approximations and will vary based on different monitor settings.  Also, because leather is a natural product, there are slight color variations from tile to tile and also within the tiles themselves.  This is normal and is part of the overall appeal of this unique and beautiful product.

Custom Colors:

Custom color matching is also available.  An additional color matching fee is required for this service.  Virtually any color can be achieved by sending us a swatch or sample of the color or colors you would like matched along with payment of the color matching fee.  The amount of this fee is available through our dealers & distributors.  This sample will be evaluated and color matching trials will be made.  Two 6" x 6" samples, called "strike offs", will be submitted for approval prior to production.  One strike off must be signed on the back in the appropriate space indicating that the color submitted has been accepted and then returned to us.  Once the approved strike off is received by Pelle Arte, the custom order will be processed.
